Displacement / Installation

“Displacement: A boat in a city. In a studio on the first floor of a concrete building in downtown Johannesburg. Going nowhere and yet always on its way. Between travelling and arriving, between being at home and being a stranger, between being and becoming. In a city that challenges me, sometimes uncomfortably so, and yet […]

Feels like it’s been just yesterday. Travel notes from my visit in #Bangkok and the last days of the fabulous @bkkartbiennale in February. Awesomeness! #knaut_contemporary #art #contemporaryart #inspo #love

Hope you enjoy one of my latest wild blue adventures… (125/125/4 cm)! It’s been busy the last weeks in my studio. How have your days been? June, my birthday month, is going to be great. Looking very much forward to meeting friends and family over the next weeks. Have a great Sunday everyone!@knaut_contemporary #manuelakarinknaut #art #fineart #artlovers #artcollector #contemporaryart #抽象絵画

Hurray for friendship! I think many of you will be able to understand what I am about to write. There is always too much to do. The day definitely takes more than 24 hours and something important is always left undone. Appointments are made months in advance, spontaneous meetings with friends happen far too rarely. Everything takes what feels like an eternity of preparation and planning. Life spins at an insanely fast speed and we spin with it. A long time ago, I resolved to slow down this merry-go-round every now and then and pause. Is there anything more important than friends and family? No! Of course not! Friendship takes time! Somewhere along the line, I heard the phrase that not having time means not having love. Somehow there is a lot of truth in this sentence. If you really want to meet your girlfriends, have fun with your friends, have conversations, laugh and cry, you will find that time. Despite an overflowing schedule. That's what you call prioritising. Thank you, dear Yara and Marie, for setting your priorities this week so that we could spend time together and hopefully will spend time together again soon. I appreciate our exchange. And this cute little dachshund, which I would have loved to keep ;)) @_helloyara_ #knaut_contemporary #art #friendship #dachshund #love
